The Gondola Design Vision is aiming at addressing the problems of the future but also already existing issues that we have no solution for today. Here are a couple of starting examples.
1) Securing an optimal use of renewable/green energy.
The frames and their batteries are being recharged in a Gondola Bases that can provide optimal charging capabilities at scale. The stacked batteries provide an additional capacity for the whole network – that can be used to store any excess power produced by renewable sources (car-2-grid).
With the unified size and fully controlled charging conditions, the batteries can be iteratively replaced by newer generations – reducing the weight and increasing the capacity over time.
2) Dealing with charging infrastructure problems.
No need to build a gigantic “individual charger” infrastructure required by today’s electric car concept.
It is much easier, safer and a couple of magnitudes cheaper to provide the high-voltage charging infrastructure for one massive station per a couple of square kilometres than to build specialized charging infrastructure for every household. All those kilometres of copper wire can be used for a better purpose.
3) Dealing with car recycling problems
The majority of the cars of today and the near future will at some point land in junkyards and landfills. As of today less than half of the car components end up being recycled.
In a controlled Gondola Ecosystem every module would be fully recycled. Every bit of mineral, plastic and glass would be re-purposed. No batteries, frames, engines, tyres or other components are ending in the junkyard and pollute the environment.
